Play mp3,mp4,mkv, avi …file on Fedora

mp3, avi, mkv this is are third party codec . you can’t get them with fedora dvd . And you can’t install them directly, For this you have to enable third party repo/rpm fusion repo.


1. Now open your terminal as root user. For be root user give this cmnd

su –

then give your root psword.

then copy this code


yum localinstall –nogpgcheck$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm


paste it into your terminal & hit enter. 

it will enable your third party repo.


2. After enable third party repo give this cmnd


yum -y install gstreamer gstreamer-plugins-good gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-ugly libdvdread libdvdnav lsdvd libdvdcss ffmpeg ffmpeg-libs gstreamer-ffmpeg libmatroska xvidcore xine-lib xine-lib-extras-freeworld xine-plugin 


Now you are ready to paly those fromats file. 😀

Install Bangla Keyboard Avro in Fedora

Avro is a popular Unicode supported bangla keyboard. You can use Avro with SCIM input method in Fedora. There is no rpm file for Avro keyboard. So you can’t install Avro keyboard from repo. To install Avro in Fedora you have to compile the sorce code.

Here I describe how you can install Avro in Fedora.

To install Avro you should need some package, and these are:

scim scim-bridge scim-m17n scim-tables scim-tables-additional scim-devel gcc gcc-c++ make

To install this package just open your terminal be root and give the following command

yum install -y scim scim-bridge scim-m17n scim-tables scim-tables-additional scim-devel gcc gcc-c++ make

You will need xvnkb-scim-unikey-0-2.i386.rpm package. But it is not in repo. So to download and install give these command


rpm -ivh xvnkb-scim-unikey-0-2.i386.rpm

Now download Avro keyboard’s source file.
To download give this command in your terminal


After complete the download give following command to install Avro.

tar -xvf scim-avro-0.0.2.tar.gz

cd scim-avro-0.0.2



make install

Avro installation finished.

Now you have to enable keyboard. To enable follow this procedure.

System -> Preferences -> Input Method Selector

select Use SCIM

click on Input Method Preference

Im Engine > Global Setup >Disable all >

Select Bengali
Select on Expand
Select on Avro in Bengali

Scim will be need to restart. So restart your pc. after restart your pc when you need the bangla keyboard just hit Ctrl+Spacebar

Install Cisco Packet Tracer 5.3 on Fedora

This post for those who want to use “Cisco Packet Tracer” on (Fedora) Linux.

Let’s Start….

First be root open terminal . Then give the following command.


This will be download “Cisco Packet Tracer 5.3”

After complete the download unzip it by following command

tar -xzf PacketTracer53_Fedora.tar.gz

Then go to the Packet Tracer directory

cd PacketTracer53

And finally give the command to install Packet Tracer


After complete the installation your will be ready to use Cisco Packet Tracer on your linux system.
